Three Bottles of world-class Burgundy, with a nice bit of bottle age, drinking beautifully now. There’s another possible world in which Domaine Goisot would be a household name on the wine scene. They are a mere few miles from the world-renowned vineyards of Chablis, yet here in Saint-Bris, they remain very much off-the-beaten-track. Yet there’s no question in our minds that Guilhem Goisot is producing wines of outstanding quality and is still, but only just, quietly flying under the radar. Prices for the great and fashionable vineyards of Burgundy have got out of hand in the last decade, so it’s an absolute pleasure to find world-class Burgundy that one can imbibe without being an oligarch or an ex-premier league manager (Alex Ferguson is reportedly one of the UK’s most prominent Burgundy collectors). The Goisot Domaine started with organic practices long before it became prominent in Europe and is now fully certified biodynamic. The philosophy follows many of the winemakers whose wines we love, hard work in the vineyards producing great fruit, allowing a light touch in the winery with the grapes doing all the talking.
2018 Bourgogne Aligoté, Goisot
18.00 > 16.20
Nice and fresh, with notes of pear, fresh almonds and jasmine. There's a light creamy texture that gives the wine an extra dimension and rounds it off nicely.
This is beautifully made - a great example of what you can achieve with the Aligote grape if you keep yields low, farm organically and make wine with care.
2017 Corps de Gard Blanc, Domaine Goisot
24.00 > 21.60
The wine from the marvelous (for whites, at least) 2017 vintage is classic Burgundy, with supreme elegance and class, wonderful minerality, and freshness. There’s aromas of citrus, white flowers, and a slight buttery note. Enjoy with roast chicken or fish and butter sauce.
2015 Corps de Gard Rouge, Domaine Goisot
This stunning vintage is showing very well and the warm season shows exuberant red fruit, with bottle age starting to develop complexity. There are notes of strawberries and raspberries, with hints of earth and spice.
