Top-end wines for a cracking Sunday Lunch.
Although we like a few weird & wonderful bits and pieces here at Cellars – we always keep it classic for Sunday Lunch with this selection from some of France’s top winemakers and the classic regions.
Grand Cru Champagne, Pierre Moncuit
£44.00 > £39.60
This is a wonderful Champagne made by Nicole Moncuit, head of the family at this small and quality focused Domaine. This Champagne comes exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards, meaning you are getting the best of the best. Stylish and elegant, this is a great aperitif with a citrus core, notes of peach, white flowers and a long mineral finish.
Saint-Véran, Alexis Pollier
£20.00 > £18.00
Alexis is an exciting young winemaker, this being just his fourth vintage, but he is making waves already in the hyper-traditional Burgundy scene as an innovator and rising star. He works with extremely small parcels and incredible attention to detail producing wines of exceptional finesse and character. This is perfect white Burgundy with a touch of stone fruit, a light creamy texture and long mineral finish.
Les Pillieres de Maison Blanche, Bordeaux
£23.00 > £20.70
This is a textbook Bordeaux from the stunning 2015 vintage. Half Merlot and half Cabernet this is rich and full, with a lovely juicy texture and fine tannins. Made by the charismatic Nicolas Despagne, the estate has the distinction of being one of the few biodynamic estates in the region.
Jurançon, Charles Hours
£16.00 > £14.40
A classic luscious dessert wine - think apricot marmalade in liquid form. Great with pudding but also blue cheese.
